Neal W. Carter, 76, of Ragan, Nebraska, died Wednesday, October 3rd, 2012, at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege, Nebraska.
He was born May 6th, 1936, in Highlandville, Missouri, to Robert H. and Alta Carter. Neal moved to Nebraska as a young boy. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Woodside on May 4th, 1957, in Lexington, Nebraska. The couple divorced and remarried on December 4th, 1999, in Ragan.
Four children were blessed to this marriage; Larry, Crystal, Vonda and Katherine.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and United States Navy where he served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He served from April 12th, 1954, until his honorable discharge on February 16th, 1962.
Neal worked for a time when he was younger for the Hay Mill, and then drove semi for many years, only retiring when his health forced him to stop. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his beloved dogs.
Survivors include his wife: Bonnie Carter of Ragan; son, Larry Carter of Ragan; three daughters, Crystal (Merle) Johnsen of Bertrand, Nebraska; Vonda (Bill) Rhoades of Windsor, Missouri; Katherine (Frank) McFarland of Del Rey Beach, Florida; one brother, William Carter of Bloomfield, New Mexico; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ruth Carter of Cozad, Nebraska; sister-in-law and brother-in-law; Denise and Marty Smith of Lexington; nieces, nephews and extended family.
Neal was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; one sister; one brother-in-law; one great-granddaughter; one niece; one nephew-in-law and one sister-in-law.
Funeral Service were held Saturday, October 6th, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Reverend Steve Smith officiating.
Neal’s wishes were for his body to be cremated and inurned at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to the Family for later designation.
