Brian Glen Morris died peacefully at his home on Friday, July 6, 2012, in Houston, Texas after 19 years of battling cancer. He was born on June 29, 1936 in Cozad, Nebraska. After graduating from Cozad High School, he earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Nebraska. His first job was at North American Aviation in Los Angeles, California and then Martin Marietta in Denver, Colorado. In 1964 he moved to Houston, and worked at NASA for 29 years.
Brian was preceded in death by his father Glen and mother Arlene Morris. He is survived by his wife Kay Craig Morris of 54 years; his daughter Debbie Morris, son Jimmy Morris and son Jerry Morris and wife Sabina; three grandsons, Jeremy, Chanse and Chayse, all of Houston; brothers Brad Morris of Cozad, and Steven Morris of Metairie, Louisiana. He also had many brothers and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Brian loved his family, sports, and the outdoors. They spent many weekends camping, fishing, boating, skiing, and sightseeing. He will be remembered by his friends and family for his bicycle riding, building and flying of radio controlled airplanes and kites. As an avid bicyclist, he rode his bike to work for many years and then on weekends took long rides with his bicycle club. He loved building and flying small kites, and did this up until his last two months. The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses of MD Anderson Cancer Center who took such great care of him during all his years of sickness.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00pm Saturday, July 14th, at Niday Funeral Home – Beamer Chapel.
