Gothenburg Native: Mae L. Lierman, age 97 (1915-2012)

Mae L. Lierman, 97 of Kearney, Nebraska, died Sunday, May 6th, 2012, at the St. John's Good Samaritan Home in Kearney.

She was born April 6th, 1915, in Gothenburg, Nebraska, to Warren and Minnie (Putman) Earll. She received her education at Gothenburg High School. On April 24th, 1934, Mae was united in marriage to Raymond L. Lierman in Oberlin, Kansas. Mae worked in food service at the Cozad Hospital and most recently at the Good Samaritan Hospital. She was a longtime member of the Cozad Methodist Church.  Mae enjoyed quilting, embroidering, Bingo, playing cards, board games and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her son, Elroy Lierman of Kearney; daughter, Karen Stevenson and husband, Robert of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren, Mike Lierman and wife, Angela of Kearney, Sue Moore and husband, Curt of Central City, Nebraska, Greg Stevenson of South Carolina, Scott Stevenson and wife, Wendy of Byers, Colorado, Julie Wicken and husband, John of Littleton, Colorado; great grandchildren, Christopher and Joseph Stevenson, Cody, Cayla and Chelsey Wicken, Sam and Addison Moore, Bailey and Cooper Lierman and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mae is preceded in death by her parents; husband; seven brothers; five sisters, an infant son and infant daughter, one great-grandson, David Stevenson and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Lierman.

Funeral Services will at 2 p.m., (today) Thursday, May 10th, 2012, at the O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home with the Rev. Dave Boedeker officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Overton Cemetery.
