Eugene "Gene" Webb Phifer, 84, of Roosevelt, Utah, died Monday, April 23rd, 2012, at his home.
He was born April 14th, 1928, in Arnold, Nebraska, to Lyle Judkins and Prudence "Peggy" Whitla Phifer. He married Ollie Rae Justice in May 9th, 1953 and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Gene served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a "jack of all trades" working on his parent's farm before going into the military. He was a heavy equipment mechanic for most of his life and retired from Arnold Machinery. He moved to the Uintah Basin to get out of the "Big City" where he cultivated his love of horses and farming. He used his knowledge as a mechanic in his hobby of rebuilding old tractors.
Gene is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Ollie Rae; children, Roscoe Eugene (Christy) Phifer, of Cottonwood Heights, Utah, Kenneth Jay (Dani) Phifer, Salt Lake City, Utah; Duane Lyle (Ann) Phifer, Layton, Utah; Rozanne (Dave) Hillam, of North Dakota; Barbara Lynn Bolton of Las Vegas, Nevada; 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; his loving sister, Nona Hood, of Cozad; and a niece, Cindy Messersmith.
Services were held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 28th, at the Roosevelt West LDS Stake Center. Burial was at the Arnold Cemetery in Arnold, Nebraska.
