Thomas W. Eland, 93, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Saturday, April 7th, 2012, at the Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington.
Tom was born August 26th, 1918, at Wisner, Nebraska, to Ralph and Faye (Waller) Eland.
He was raised a farm north of Arapahoe, Nebraska and graduated from Arapahoe High School with the Class of 1936.
Tom was united in marriage to Thelma Lesher on October 12th, 1949, at Washington, Kansas. Two daughters were blessed to this marriage: Susan and Glory.
He was a WWII United States Navy veteran who served from May 19th, 1944, until his Honorable Discharge on March 6th, 1946. His career as a Linotype Operator in the printing business took him all over the United States.
The couple retired to Lexington in December of 1980. Tom then started a small lawnmower business in Lexington for several years.
He was a member of the Methodist Church and the American Legion.
Tom is survived by his loving daughters, Susan (Alfred) Lincoln of Kearney, Nebraska and Glory (Frank) Henigan of Lexington; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and a host of friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents.
