Dawson County Relay For Life Is This Friday In Lexington
The trio of Deb James of Lexington, Amalia Canas of Cozad and Loyd Hickey of Overton will lead the Lap of Hope at the 2016 America Cancer Society Relay for Life of Dawson County at 6 p.m. on Friday at the Lexington High School track.
Tara Hieter and Andrea Johnson from Shear Dimensions in Kearney will be cutting hair for donations to “Wigs for Kids” from 5:30-7 p.m. on Friday evening. Free haircuts if the hair is being donated. They will also cut hair for anyone that wants to donate haircut fee to Relay for Life.
Opening ceremonies will be held at 5:45 with the Star Spangled Banner and encouraging words from Dawson County’s Unicameral Representative Matt Williams of Gothenburg. Following the Opening ceremonies will be the emotional charged, Survivor Lap scheduled to take place at 6 p.m.
The silent auction will be held from 6-10 p.m. with the Luminaria Ceremony and Video being conducted once it gets dark, which should be after 8:30 p.m.
From 10-11:45 p.m. the Walking and Campsites will continue with their individual fundraisers.
Finishing the evening strong, the Closing Ceremonies and the Walk of Hope will be held from 11:45 p.m. through Midnight.
