Memorials Suggested: Delpha D. Edwards (1916-2016)

  Delpha D. Edwards, 86, of North Loup passed away on May 27th, 2016, at the Valley County Health System Hospital in Ord.
  A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, June 3rd, 2016, at 11:00 am at the North Loup United Methodist Church. Reverend Toni Nolze will officiate. Private inurnment will be held at a later date in the Hillside Cemetery at North Loup. Memorials are suggested to be given to the North Loup Popcorn Days Committee or the North Loup Fire and Rescue. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. 
  Delpha Doreen was born April 8th, 1930, in Valley County, Nebraska to Stanley and Hattie (Stine) Brown. She was born to a farm family and enjoyed outdoor work with her father. Delpha graduated from North Loup High School in 1947.
  Following graduation, she worked at Elgin Watch Factory in Lincoln. On August 26th, 1950, Delpha was united in marriage to Robert C. “Bob” Edwards at the Mira Valley Church south of Ord. The couple farmed in Valley County. When their family was raised, Delpha worked in the fabric department at the Ben Franklin store and then for Hallmark where she stocked cards.
Following their retirements they moved into North Loup in 2001. Bob passed away on April 16th, 2010.
  Delpha was a member of the North Loup United Methodist Church where she was active in the Sunflowers and church committees. Her joy centered around her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was creative and accomplished with the sewing machine and made many costumes for Halloween, NLS Theater and Popcorn Days Parades. She enjoyed painting ceramics with her friends and created many afghans, banners, quilts; and mittens for those in need. In her final years she enjoyed the 9:00 a.m. coffee group at the NL Café, bird and cat watching; and watching game shows. 
  Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Teri Edwards of Bloomfield and Timothy and Grace Edwards of Olathe, Kansas; two daughters and a son-in-law, Debra and Gene Hobelman of Lincoln and Laura Clement and her fiancé, Scott Dornhoff both of Minden; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Doris Brown of Lincoln.
  She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Gale and George Brown; and two sisters, Geraldine Hochreiter and Loretta Jorgensen.
