Betty Jane Fagot Burt, 88 of Lincoln, Nebraska, died Sunday, March 4th, 2012, at Autumn House Lincoln.

She was born in Miller, Nebraska, to Harold and Hazel (Sea) Fairchild. She graduated from Cozad High School in 1941. She attended Kearney State College and was a member of Alpha Kappa Gamma Sorority. She was married to Marvin Fagot in 1943. Three children were born to this union: Diane, Ron and Janet. She was an active member of the VFW auxiliary.

Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as a teacher of 34 years. She enjoyed her family, quilting, crafts, cooking, painting, writing poetry, playing cards and Bingo and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty married James E. Burt of Creighton, Nebraska, August 5th, 1978. After they both retired, they traveled for two years before settling in Alamo, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Marvin Fagot; her parents; son-in-law, Darryl Bockmann; two sisters, Carol Carman and Darlene Jeffery and one brother, Kenneth Fairchild.

Survivors include husband, Jim; daughter, Diane Bockmann of Grand Island, Nebraska; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Susan Fagot of Lexington, Nebraska; daughter and son-in-law, Jim and Janet Martin of Lincoln; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two step-daughters, Tim and Janelle Cox of Louisville, Nebraska, Tom and Mary Upshaw of Norfolk, Nebraska; seven step-grandchildren, five step great-grandchildren; brother, Conrad (Marilyn) Fairchild of Ridgecrest, California; two sisters, Cecil (Don) Ackerman Koch of Albany, Texas and Beverly (Terry) Williams of Cozad, Nebraska.

She was cremated and will be buried at a later date at St. Ann's Cemetery in Lexington.

A Rosary starting at 10:45 a.m. and Memorial Mass following will be held on Monday, March 26th, 2012, at St. John's Catholic Church, 7601 Vine St. Lincoln Nebraska.
