Darell Peden, 78, of Pensacola, Florida, died Friday, February 10th, 2012, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola surrounded by his family.
Darell was born on March 10th, 1933, in Cozad, Nebraska, to Walter and Frances (Kandler) Peden. He attended Cozad High School. He entered military service and served as a platoon sergeant in the Korean conflict where he was awarded a Silver Star, a Bronze Star, three Purple Hearts and a Korean medal of honor. After completing his service in the Army, he attended barber college in Omaha.
He married Mona Janice Naylor from Callaway, Nebraska, in 1954. Darell ran a barbershop in Cozad for 24 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mona; daughter, Cynthia Lea (Peden) Ostrom of Vermillion, South Dakota; son, Walter Dean Peden of Pensacola, Florida; three granddaughters, Frances Rose Lewis, Rachel Lea Einspahr and Janessa Lee Peden; great-granddaughter, Eva Lea Einspahr.
Cremation was done at Trahan Funeral home and interment was at the Cozad Cemetery.
