The Reds Juniors were looking to make some noise in the B6 District Baseball Tournament that was held in McCook starting on Saturday.
In their opening round contest, the Cozad Nine defeated Gothenburg and were set to face top-seed Broken Bow in the second round.
The Indians Nine went on the offensive early and often and kept the Cozad bats in check to net a 13-0 victory on Sunday.
In the opening inning, Broken Bow was able to rattle the bats to the tune of a five run surge that included a two-RBI single off the bat of Trevor Scott and Tommy McCormick belting an RBI-single to pace the Indians to lead 5-0 at the end of the opening inning of play.
After retiring the side in order, the Broken Bow offense continued to surge offensively with a three run inning with a two-RBI double off the bat of McCormick this time around to extend the cushion the scoreboard for the Broken Bow Juniors to the count of 8-0 before the smoke cleared on the second inning.
Cozad was able to fuel the spark in the third inning with a Logan Geiser walk that got the Reds in business, but a ground out to record the third out retired the side with Geiser stranded on first base.
Broken Bow was able to gain the needed cushion to breathe in the fourth inning when Josey Evans, Nole Chapin, Hunter Minnick and Hunter Smith all scored for the Indians. Igniting the offensive showcase in the inning for the Broken Bow Nine was Hunter Smith and Josey Evans with RBI-singles.
Down to their last at bats, Cozad got key at-bats by Cameron Griffis and Hunter Holbein that resulted in the Reds Juniors getting runners in scoring position, but it was short-lived as Broken Bow retired the next three batters to finish out the contest with a 13-0 win.
