Lex Netters Defend Home Hardcourt

Doing their best to defend their home court, the Minutemaids finished third overall in the team race of the Lexington Tennis Invitational on Wednesday.

Kearney Catholic was the team champion while winning three of the four gold medals and scoring 57 points. McCook was the runner-up with 37 points, just ahead of third place Lexington with 34 points.

Lex was led by Lillie Fattig finishing as the runner-up in the #2 singles division. Fattig won three straight matches (8-1, 8-2 and 8-2) in dominant fashion to advance to the final round, where she was edged by Star Erin Husmann 8-2 in the finals.

At #2 singles, Maid Hannah Ostrom had an up and down day and finished in fourth place overall. Ostrom was edged by Duster Annie Allmand 8-5 in her final match.

In double’s tennis action, Lexington had a superb day.  

The duo of Katelin Schultze and Kelby O’Meara finished in fourth at #1 doubles. The duo’s final match was a heartbreaker to Holdrege 8-4.

Ellie Hobelman and Zoie Allen battled the field and walked away with bronze medalist honors while competing in the #2 doubles division.
