The Minutemen had a remarkable campaign on the mat this past season and have the potential to build on that success during the upcoming 2013-2014 season.
There are eight returning state qualifiers and 14 returning lettermen that assisted greatly in the Orange and Black competing in and finishing fourth overall in the First Annual State Dual Championships.
“This should be an exciting year for us,” expressed Lexington Head Coach Joey Morrison. “Practice has been great so far and everyone is very positive about the outlook for this season.”
Looking to improve on his stellar season is Senior Edwin Perdomo, the silver medalist at 220 lbs. with a record of 41-5 this past season. Perdomo has the potential to return to the Saturday showcase to finish off his Minuteman career.
Senior Alam Alvarez will be a force to be reckoned with on the mat, as they seeks to improve on his fifth place State medal and 40-10 overall record this past season.
Competing in the middleweights, Dakota Hernandez is battle tested as he earned fifth place honors this past season at the state meet with a season record of 42-11. Hernandez has the gumption and work ethic to improve on that finish during his Junior campaign.
Seniors Pascual Francisco and Mike Nguyen were big scorers for the Minutemen at the flyweights this past season and will be looked upon to jumpstart the momentum for the Orange and Black this season. Francisco and Nguyen will improve on their 31-11 and 26-19 past season records.
Senior Seth Shields and Luis Nunez along with Juniors Mario Barraza seek to return to the state meet to finish off their 2013 seasons.
