Join the class to become a KCBS (Kansas City Barbecue Society) certified judge. KCBS Certified Judging Class Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014, 6-10 p.m.: The class will cover the criteria involved in judging competitions. You’ll learn how to grade world-class chicken, pulled pork, ribs and brisket - and taste them during the process. This class will be taught by KCBS Master Judge Bunny Tuttle. Cost: $85.
KCBS Table Captain Class – Thursday, April 24th – 6-7 p.m.: This class will be taught by KCBS Master Judge Rich Tuttle. It will enable you to take your judging skills a step further insuring the judges have the necessary tools to choose the best product based on appearance/taste/tenderness. Cost $45.
Backyard BBQ Contest - Friday, April 25th, 5:30–7:30 p.m., Gothenburg Rodeo Grounds: It’s your chance to compete and win money. Limited to the first 15 entries. Entry fee - $25, Meat (Ribs and Chicken) will be provided; optional to participate in “anything goes” category. Bring your own grill/smoker as well as necessary fuel. Three prizes to win; $100, $75, $50. Winners are chosen by popular vote.
“Grillin’ Grub” Raffle: You can have a chance to win $750 or $250 in grocery certificates to buy all the fixin’s to put on your grill this summer. Price per ticket - $5, or a book of five - $20.
