Sam J. Stevens, 84, of Palm Springs, California, died January 20th, 2014 at his home in Palm Springs.
He was born October 24th, 1929, in Denver, Colorado, son of David and Genevieve Stevens.
Sam grew up in Cozad, Nebraska and spent a short time in the Air Force before launching his career in music, which took him around the country as a successful bandleader, drummer and singer. Sam loved tennis and traveled to most of the major professional tournaments worldwide and collected well over 1,000 photos taken of himself and rising stars from the tennis world. Sam, who was a pilot himself, was instrumental in encouraging his son, Kim, to seek a career in the aviation industry.
Sam is survived by sons Kim Stevens of Virginia and Sam Philby of Oregon.
Sam was preceded in death by brothers David, Jr. and Al Stevens.
