Patricia Fingerhut, 79, of Cozad, Nebraska, died on November 15th, 2013, at GoldenLiving Center in Cozad.
On May 16th, 1934, she was born at Knox, Indiana to Glenn and Francis (Ford) VanDeman.
She graduated from Knox High School in 1952 and later was united in marriage to Ken Fingerhut on April 4th, 1953 at Chicago, Illinois. They moved to Cozad in 1966 where she worked at Valley Vending for many years and was affectionately known to many as “Ma”. They also owned and operated the Detour Lounge where her sausage and sauerkraut soup was a favorite. She loved her family, crossword puzzles, crafts, sewing and having a toddy.
Survivors include her husband; Ken “Pa” Fingerhut of Cozad, children; Kim (Lynn) Johnson of Johnson Lake; Kirk (Jill) Fingerhut of Holdredge; Kelly (Lannie) Kvasnicka, Kent (Deb) Fingerhut and Kris (Julie) Fingerhut, all of Cozad; three sisters; Sharon Anspach of Logansport, Indiana; Lynn VanDeman of Mishawaka, Indiana and Deb (Alan) Whisler of Richmond, Virginia; brother, David (Kathy) VanDeman of Grand Junction, Colorado; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. (today) Thursday, November 21th, 2013, at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.
Inurnment will be at the Cozad Cemetery. Following the committal service, everyone is invited to the Elks Club to greet the family. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
