Cozad Resident: Linda S. Kniesteadt, age 60 (1952-2013)

Linda Kniesteadt, 60, of Cozad, Nebraska, died Thursday, February 14th, 2013, at her home in Cozad.

Linda was born June 7th, 1952, at Cozad to Chris and Irma (Fenno) McNulty. She attended school in the Cozad area most of her life, until her mother’s passing in 1969 necessitated her move to Washington to live with her uncle. Linda graduated from high school in Walla Walla, Washington, in 1971.

Following high school, Linda moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she worked at the casinos. Around 1974, Linda returned to Cozad where she began work at Tenneco Automotive. On June 28th, 1975, she married Bob Kniesteadt at Cozad. The couple made their home in Cozad where they raised their two children, Crystal and Bobby. Linda would eventually move on to be a cashier at C-Mart and Jack & Jill before entering the field of home health. She loved her work as a caregiver and continued that career until 2008, when her failing health would no longer allow her to work.

Linda loved getting out of the house and being active. She enjoyed shopping and going for long car rides. She spent as much time outdoors as she could, even tagging along with Bob when he went hunting. Her five grandchildren always brought tremendous joy to her life and she loved to spend time with them. Most recently, she enjoyed spending time with her hospice nurses, who always seemed to bring her comfort throughout the long struggle she had with her health. She was a dedicated wife, mom, grandma, sister and friend.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters Dorothy Beberniss, Joann Mayer and Dianna Holbrook; and a brother, Jerry Wilson.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Kniesteadt of Cozad; daughter, Crystal (Candy) Rodriguez of Omaha, Nebraska; son, Bobby (Danielle Walker) Kniesteadt of Cozad; five grandchildren, Haelie, Sebastian and Serena Kniesteadt; Calyssa and Carley Rodriguez; a sister, Doris Anderson of Cozad; two brothers, Tom McNulty of Texas, Larry Wilson of Indiana; and many other relatives and friends.
