Swedes, Haymakers strong in Midwest
Two gold medalists

      Gothenburg managed a pair of gold medals in the boys division of the 'Best Of The Midwest' Track and Field finals at Sutherland.

     Alex Paul and Tannor Mroczek stepped to the front in the 100 and 400 meter races. Paul zipped the circle in 50.60, Mroczek was clocked at 11.10.

     Cozad grabbed a pair of seconds, Kyle Cardenas tossed the shotput 51'1/2" for his runner-up charm. Jason Luong followed Mroczek to the wire in he 100 (11.20), and was third over the 200 route (23.10).

     Brandon Woldt notched a third and fifth in the 100 (11.30) and 200 (23.20) for the Haymakers. A fourth by the 4x100 meter relay (45.20) and sixth from shotputter Michael Wurst (46'5 1/2") completed Cozad's performance.

     Gothenburg grabbed six second place medals off efforts by Mark Hilderbrand, 300 hurdles (39.70); Andrew Collins, 1600 meters (4:50.70); pole vaulter Cameron Bullock (13'4"); Chad Dachtler in the discus (143'5") and by the 4x100 (43.90) and 4x400 (3:31.20) meter relay teams. Dachlter was also third in the shotput (49'5") and Jess Ambler cleared 12'6" for sixth among the vaulters.

     Boys event winners:

     --100 METER DASH: Tannor Mroczek (GBurg), 11.10.

     --200 METER DASH: Josh Wall (Perkins County), 22.70.

     --400 METER DASH: 

Alex Paul (GBurg), 50.60.

     --110 METER HURDLES: Rob Keeney (Callaway), 15.10.

     --300 METER HURDLES: Rob Keeney (Callaway), 39.40.

     --800 METER RUN: Tanner Barnum (Stapleton), 2:03.30.

     --1600 METER RUN: Jared Shillington (Dundy County), 4:48.80.

     --3200 METER RUN: Brandon Shirkey (Dundy County), 10:7.40.

     --LONG JUMP: Randon McKain (Sutherland), 20'11".

     --TRIPLE JUMP: Randon McKain (Sutherland), 42'6 1/2".

     --HIGH JUMP: Steve Jones (NPSP), 6'1".

     --POLE VAULT: Andy Smith (McCook), 13'8".

     --SHOTPUT: Keifer Burke (Maxwell), 57'10 1/4".

     --DISCUS: Kyle Glidden (Dundy County), 157'1 1/2".

     --4x100 METER RELAY: Perkins County, 43.90.

     --4x400 METER RELAY: Perkins County, 3:29.80.

     --4x800 METER RELAY: Wallace, 8:30.40.
