Lexington is GNAC tennis champion
Ondrak, Maloley champs

Lexington 34, McCook 33, Kearney 29, North Platte 20, Norfolk 16, Hastings 15, Columbus 12, Scottsbluff 8.
Kelsey Ondrak and Terah Maloley emerged as individual champions and Lexington captured the team title in the 2008 Greater Nebraska Athletic Conference Tennis Tournament at Hastings Saturday.
Ondrak was tops in No. 1 Singles and Maloley towered over No. 2 Singles competition.
In the final team point comparisons, the Minutemaids edged McCook, 34-33. Kearney (29) and North Platte (20) followed.
Lex coach Jason Sullivan lauded Ondrak and Maloley for their performances, then noted, "Our No. 1 Doubles team (Emilie Monter/Kristin White) really played well, too. They scored 10 huge points and came from behind to beat Hastings in their final match."
Sullivan added, "We have felt that the potential has been there all year, and today (Saturday), they really came together and played hard -- their points were vital."
Ondrak moved her record for the year to 29-5, after outpointing Theresa Krischer of Hastings in the finals, 8-1. Earlier, Ondrak toppled Cassie Marshall of North Platte, 8-2; bumped Norfolk's Kym Cadell, 8-2; topped Amanda Henkel of Columbus, 8-1; stopped McCook's Brianna Watkins, 8-5; prevailed over Amanda Henkle of Scottsbluff, 8-3; and then defeated Domonique Kropp of Kearney, 8-3.
Maloley won over Micah Goodwin, North Platte, 9-7; Katelyn Olenich, Norfolk, 8-4; Ashley Meyers, Columbus, 8-3; Hanah Swanhorst, McCook, 8-4; Brooke Brown, Scottsbluff, 8-3; Riley Wilson, Kearney, 8-1; and Cammi Koopman of Hastings, 8-4.
Monter and White combined efforts for Lexington in No. 1 Doubles. They notched victories over Jessica Cleveland, Alexa Fink, Norfolk, 8-5; Lori Haas/Jenna Stecker, Columbus, 8-4; Hannah Hopp/Emily Holscher, Scottsbluff, 8-1; and Audrey Portwood/Taylor Powers of Hastings, 9-7.
Rachel Ostrom and Steph Straka battled for Lex in No. 2 Doubles. They garnered victories over Laura Edwards/Crista Cain, North Platte, 8-2; Brooke Steele/Nikki Carlson, Scottsbluff, 9-7; and Kelsey Craig/Alexis Parde of Hastings, 8-5.
The Maids will return to action today (Thursday), in a triangular against Adams Central and York in Hastings.
